11th April 2023: Southern lights, sunrises, dolphins and bird life "There were so many moments on this walk when I was stunned by the glory and beauty of the bush and landscapes. There is so much variety in what you see from moment to moment. I walked as a solo tramper and enjoyed every second. The facilities at the huts were such a treat. Hot showers and a fluffy warm duvet = perfection! And hot bangers and mash with a Guinness each night for tea. Delicious creamy hot porridge each morning.…. I spent quite a bit of time up on the hill above Okaka Hut looking for the southern lights aurora borealis but was not lucky enough to see them. The stunning sun rise the next morning made up for it though. Swimming at the beach was fantastic at the end of day 2. Cold but nice once I got used to it. The dolphins were there but sadly quite far out from the beach. Do not hang about getting into the water. The sandflies are ferocious! …. Best thing about the trip - the fantastic scenery, the facilities and the people you meet. There’s also loads of pest control so lots of native bird life compared to other walks I’ve done such as the Kepler. …  (Review continues on tripadvisor)" - Tracey M Tripadvisor

23rd November 2022: Hump Ridge track steeped in history "The Hump Ridge Track definitely exceeded all expectations. Having done both the Routeburn and Milford tracks, I didn't expect this trail to live up to the same expectations but it sure did. Magnificent scenery, goblin like forests, spectacular views from Okaka Lodge to the ocean, swing bridges, viaducts and Port Craig, steeped in history from a Rimu milling operation and where one can swim with the rare Hector's dolphins. The helicopter flight of Te Waewae Bay was a great start. Lodges were very comfortable and the staff fantastic. Great to do this hike with a guide as there's so much history to absorb. Congratulations to the Hump Ridge Trust who got this track initiated and maintained. Don't hesitate, just book it." - Robyn D Tripadvisor
1st April 2022: Great walk and lodge experience "Amazing walk with beautiful bush and views. The private rooms at the lodges were such a luxury and it was a lovely bonus to be able to buy a wine at night and to have porridge cooked for us in the morning! Our lodge manager was awesome." - sarah c Tripadvisor
12th January 2022: Stump The Hump! Do it!.. "Just finished the Humpridge on Jan 9th , we were a group of 6, 12 in total. We took the guided option and Catherine & Bree were outstanding. Professional, supportive and knowledgeable. The helicopter ride at the start was exciting and a first for many of our group and then the walk began.. We had superb weather and we were rewarded after an epic climb with stunning views from our Lodge followed by pre dinner nibbles and then a dinner that wouldn't be out of place in a wellington restaurant and then there was the hotel quality beds.!! Thank you to staff at both the Lodges as there was alot of work to be done to get everything ready for multiple groups coming through the track. The variety of flora and fauna on this walk was a bonus - from the grunt of the climb, to the walk along the ridge and then down to Port Craig on day 2 and then meandering through the bush before dropping onto the beach and a final climb on day 3 to get to the end of the track where the van was waiting ( and then it started to rain!) Do it- !" - 5Alex57 Tripadvisor
29th December 2021: The Jewel of south east Fiordland "Over the last 38 years I have walked all the multi day walks in Fiordland but I have never been as comfortable and spoilt as I was on the Humpridge." - peterrM6374WL Tripadvisor
29th March 2021: Stunning Scenery "What a great hike. Great scenery and history supported by staff on the track eager to please. This is not an easy hike but the rewards are worth it. A bonus was the ability to have sheets in bunk (no sleeping bag to carry), food available at hut including Tuatapere sausages! (Again less weight). Mostly very good track but a bit of mud. A step above what you find at a typical NZ DoC hut. Book it!" - Graham Roberts Tripadvisor
